The organizer of Labelexpo Asia 2019 is hosting a series of morning roadshows across China during October in conjunction with key industry partner, the Printing and Printing Equipment Industries Association of China (PEIAC). Held in Beijing, Guangzhou and Shanghai, the three events are an opportunity for printers and media to gain an exclusive insight into what the 2019 edition of Labelexpo Asia has in store. Each roadshow will be led by Kevin Liu, Labelexpo Asia project director, who will reveal the latest industry trends as well as present show highlights. He will be joined by representatives from PEIAC, and, for the event in Guangzhou, leaders from Guangdong Printing Association and Guangdong Packaging Association.

Tresu showcases solutions for corrugated flexo print quality and production efficiency at FEFCO Technical Seminar 2019

Flexographic equipment and machine manufacturer Tresu will present its ancillary systems that efficiently manage ink supply and optimise machine uptime for paperboard converters at the FEFCO Exhibition and Technical Seminar, organised by the European Federation of Corrugated Board Manufacturers (Stands 114/115, 9-11 October 2019, Palexpo, Geneva, Switzerland).

Tresu’s chamber doctor blades and ink supply systems automatically feed ink and coating media to the press at controlled pressure levels, enabling clean, consistent print results, reduced waste, faster printing speeds and minimal manual intervention. Stand highlights will be the MaxiPrint Concept chamber doctor blade with integrated ink supply and cleaning system for wide web applications, and the F10 iCon ink supply system. The Tresu MaxiPrint Concept comprises a closed doctor blade chamber, an ink supply unit and a cleaning system. It offers fast, automatic internal cleaning, a corrosion-resistant environment, improved print quality consistency and improved ink conservancy. A full ink change and cleaning cycle can be done in 3-4 minutes, significantly reducing makeready times.

drupa 2020 Essentials of Print No. 3: Packaging in an E-Commerce World

“Digital pre-print opens a new era for brand protection and brand activation in e-commerce. Smart, digitally printed corrugated cardboard packaging solutions inform, entertain and network the shopper. They warn of product counterfeiting and guarantee transparency in shipment and traceability. All this is now possible not only for short, but also for medium and long print runs. Hence, there is almost a paradox: that of individualized mass production.”

The ongoing digitalization and the associated changes in consumer shopping behavior have a major impact on the design and construction of packaging. Mass-produced products lose their attractiveness. Brand manufacturers, retailers and logistics providers are adapting to the new challenges of online trading. They receive strong impetus from the packaging industry, which has a lot to offer when it comes to e-commerce packaging made of corrugated board with innovative solutions and state-of-the-art print technologies. 74.4 billion: this is the number of shipments that courier, express and parcel (CEP) services carried worldwide in 2017, according to the latest figures in the annual Pitney Bows Parcel Shipping Index. Roughly 17 percent more than in the previous year. This surge in parcel volume is being fueled by the continuing boom in e-commerce. Already by 2020, it is expected to exceed 100 billion parcels in the thirteen industrial nations surveyed. In view of such volumes and growth rates, it becomes clear: Packaging has long since emerged as a key component in the e-commerce logistics chain.
