QLM Label Makers opens new facility in Brisbane

QLM Label Makers has opened a new head office and manufacturing facility in Berrinba, Brisbane. Its new corporate head office in Brisbane focuses on flexographic printing, while its hub in Melbourne houses its HP Indigo technology, focusing on digital. At a virtual opening, QLM Label Makers general manager Andrew Siwicki said the purpose-built premises is three times the size of its previous facility and houses the latest innovations in labelling and packaging, including Mark Andy flexo presses.

“QLM is a passionate company and we are so excited to finally open our virtual doors to our world-class operations,” he said. “We have a vision to be market leaders in our industry and fast-forward to today, we have some of the most advanced label manufacturing technology in Australia. Each and every one of our staff plays a key role in the success of what we do and our clients’ brands.

“We are so proud of our purpose-built facility, bringing us to the forefront to manufacture of quality labels and packaging. The little company that thought it could, is doing it.”

QLM Label Makers CEO Simon Pugh said the company has grown from its humble beginnings but retains the same passion for business. The company also announced that it will soon launch QLM Connects, an online platform that houses resources for local manufacturers on local suppliers and complementary businesses and customers. It will also include access to training and webinars.

“It gives me a great sense of pride to see how the business has grown. When mum and dad, Del and David Pugh, first started QLM – then Queensland Marking Systems - in 1973, they did so at a time without the tools that we now consider so important in a modern business,” Pugh said. “What they infused the business with, and we’ve carried on to the business today, is passion. A passion to connect with our clients and suppliers to make sure that we provide long-term solutions,” he continued

“Today’s opening is a culmination of a 47-year journey that begun under a house in Windsor, Brisbane. Our new, incredible facility is committed to ensuring a process of continual improvement, maximising efficiency, and reducing our environmental footprint.

“By continuing to commit to innovation to grow a modern manufacturing base in Australia, developing and building our team, understanding and communicating market trends, that we have the right tools in place to develop solutions that ensure the long-term success of all our stakeholders.”

QLM Label Makers employs about 100 staff in Australia and has an Asia Pacific presence with operational plants in Vietnam and Malaysia.
